Evaluating your Life

Have you ever just stepped back and evaluated your life as it is today? Sounds like an open question with a lot of subjectivity but really take a step back and think for a moment. I often hear about people expecting more from their life, they want a cottage, they want expensive cars and even big mansions. But take a step out of the realm of materialism and really evaluate what you have today. Did you know the average household income in North America is close to 60K? In today’s world if you have a university education you can probably achieve this within the first 5 years of your career. What this indicates is that simple luxuries such as taking a vacation or buying the latest gadget is not something nearly 50 percent of north americans can afford to do.

It’s times like this where you truly need to be grateful for what you have. For those who are reading this and fall below the 50 percent income level, compare yourself to those in third world countries who can’t even afford a healthy meal. The point of the story is it’s ok strive to be something better but along the way don’t forget to pat yourself on the back for what you have and don’t take for granted the simple necessities that you have, that are quite often luxuries to others. Keep a positive mindset in you will always be wealthier than you think.
