Accepting Defeat can be Positive

Accepting Defeat can be Positive

Why is it that whenever people lose an argument or fail to justify their point of view that they tend to get defensive and try to come up with a rationale that even they know doesn’t make sense. One of the most humble things that a person can do is accept defeat and it all boils down to how you view the “loss”. For those who feel that they always need to win an argument, they tend to not really a learn anything from that experience. In fact they are in fact putting on blinders and no matter what the other person says has no bearing on the outcome. For those who can actually acknowledge that they were wrong or at least acknowledge and respect the other person means that they have not only taken the time to hear the other person out but credit them for their thought process. In fact you can learn from other opinions and respect it while still hanging on to your own but if you choose not to acknowledge others and ignore what they have to say, you are the one who is at a disadvantage. So next time you’re in a debate try to see both sides and if you have to accept defeat thats ok – everybody makes mistakes. After all if you were always right wouldn’t you have the answer to just about anything and have no need for others. In fact this person can predict the lottery or even tell the future. Fact is everybody on this planet will make mistakes but it’s those who acknowledge it that actually learn from their mistake and are much better off in the long-term.
